How many frogs do you need to kiss, to find the right one?
The abundance and hope in life comes with the tadpole. The salmon and the sperm that swim upstream. There is an urge to purge when you embrace a frog prince or princess. A transformation occurs when you realize and focus your wishes.
One story tells of the frog in the bottom of the well and he can only see the sky through the top of the containment, therefore, the sky is limited. The message is try to enlarge the limitation.
A frog in your throat is more than a tickle or irritation, it is a symbol for trying to formalize amazing dreams through song. It must be cleared, reformed to blossom. When you yawn you open your throat to breath the sustaining breath of song. The simple is the strongest of our hearts desires.
The Greek and Roman symbolism for frogs are primal, fertility, licentiousness. There is a correlation to the idea of the lizard brain. We are told that in an unprovoked attack, flight is the correct response. But, the primal will supersede the linear thought process. If your reaction is to stand and fight, is this bad? As R D Laing suggested, “there is no right or wrong, just depends what side you are on.”
Embracing the frog/lizard essence of our characters is continually alternating with the hero/heroine dynamic. To appreciate all sides of our essence is exactly what’s called for. The tribal is being felt with Mars in Aquarius, the harmony of belonging and disharmony of prejudice. The one integrating with the many. The Leo/Aquarius polarity of the king overseeing the people.
Frogs are perhaps the oldest complex life form, over 200 million years old as reported by the BBC yesterday. Along with scorpions and lizards they are referred to as the amber treasures, being fossilized in the tree resin.
Kermit is the wise journeyman in the Henson’s Muppets. His humor and simplicity is endearing. His song "Rainbow Connection" (listen here) brings a lightening to moods that are frayed. Like Mr Rogers, we always need the reminder of appreciating our neighbors.
