"The Rhine's fair children, bewailing their lost gold, weep" (Arthur Rackham) and

"Hesiod and the Muse" (Gustave Moreau)
The moon is the underpinnings of our unconscious. Our Mothers give us life, rhythm of breath, our instincts. There is a theory we incarnate through the moon, but as it represents the Mother who carries us, both are true.

Aging brings us more in tune with our underpinnings. Having numerous experiences can bring the “what if” scenario more to the surface. As in, what if the person that is on our same train is not wanting to travel, but run away? Will we psychically pick up the fear? The more we experience passion, the more we feel the peaks and valleys of the emotional trolley. To live is to perceive the spirals and whirls of the many variables of the mundane. The more we experience the more we grow, but also anticipate.

The legends of Mermaids exist in every culture. As we are descended from a single cell in the sea, it is perhaps not that unusual. Can you identify with living, breathing, dancing in the water? The Northern hemisphere summer partially includes July, the month of the sign Cancer and the Moon. Most of the time, being in the water, the pool, the lake, the sea, is highly sought after. Mermaids represent the extreme of emotions. Unreserved joy, devastating fear and movement, pop up when we imagine them.

The perfect Mother is nurturing, unreservedly supportive and teaches us how to promulgate, make publicly known, this concept. Although like Congreve remarked “Hell hath no fury, like a woman scorned” in his 1697 poem. The Greek tragedy Medea, shows how ruthless a Mother can be. Many tales speak of the Mermaid, needing an immortal soul. Mirrors, combs and eloquence are of some of their symbols. Music is a way they inspire and intimidate. There are many unknown healing plants in the sea, and poisons, which are a part of their bag of tricks. La Sirène is the Haitian Mermaid Goddess Spirit of Wealth and Beauty. Beware of interpreting Wealth as Money.

Then we can contemplate Memory. Associative ideas again come from the wealth of emotions that rummage around in our stomach brain. The Greek Titan Goddess Mnemosyne was the patron of politicians and Kings. In a world dominated by oral culture, she was highly regarded. She was the consort and niece of Zeus and gave birth to the nine Muses. Todays limited oral culture puts a lesser importance on her gifts.

The age of Aquarius preliminary concept was on the idea of telepathy, hopefully we will learn to hear the inner workings of ourselves and others. Not just smiley faces and abbreviations of words that are confusing.
