Dulce de Leche
Papillon, is the French word for butterfly. My particular version of unconditional love is Dulce de Leche, she is a Papillon. In contemplating the nature of celebrity, I believe, what is inherent in the breed is to transform, recreate, die to be reborn.
Celebrity comes from Latin, relating to the heavens. We honor and denigrate those who fly high and then fall down. Is this because we can watch them and do not have to do it ourselves? Warhol's 15 minutes of fame refers to this premise. To have a little celebrity, hanging out in the heavens for 15 minutes, is all most of us can handle. But, we do have to be relentless about keeping the management of living consistent. Being high and getting a rush are being in heaven. Not with stimulants, but adrenaline. A few fortunate souls learn the discipline of the regularity of this. Eric Clapton's lyrics in "Tears in Heaven" touches our psyche.
Cupid's girlfriend Psyche, was turned into a butterfly for daring to look on his perfect face. Each day she became a flying creature, so she could spend her evenings adoring him. In the states where the sunshine shines the most, California and Florida, people come to reinvent themselves. What few realize is you cannot hide in the sun.
Otherwise, to sleep and dream and be reawakened with hope and courage is the best part of life. The coeur is our heart and the ability to love.
